Who? The Blue Man Group & Mike Relm (opening act)
When? March 13, 2007
Where? Columbus Civic Center, Columbus, GA
First of all, I want to thank Ryno (plug: 95.7 The River) for scoring the tickets. We were on the floor, center stage, about 8-9 rows back. You can’t beat that for free! Plus, with the guest passes we had we got to meet The Blue Man Group, their band, and Mike Relm after the performance.

A DJ named Mike Relm was the opening act. He’s easily my favorite
opener for any show I’ve been to. He was an amazing DJ, but his set was
also just highly entertaining and very funny. He would spin and scratch
scenes from various movies/tv shows (Office Space, School of Rock, Pee
Wee Herman, etc.) and have the scene on the screens behind him. I ended up
buying a t-shirt and CD of his, which I got him to autograph when I met
him after the show.

Wow.
I’ve been to my fair share of concerts, including some pretty theatrical performances (Kiss, Gwar, & The Misfits to name a few), but I don’t know if anyone can top the show these guys put on. If you ever get the chance, whether you’re in NYC or Vegas or you catch them touring, definitely go see them.
The tour that came here was the “How to be a Megastar 2.0 Tour”. Basically, they just showed infomercial-style clips on the jumbotrons about how to be a rockstar and what the audience should be doing. We did classic moves like “the one fist pump” and “the head bob”. Most people know what The Blue Man Group is about, and they didn’t disappoint. I’m not sure what else to say about them.
